TMPGEnc Templates (version 1.3) DVDHelp.us
Hi there - I'm Jake, webmaster of http://www.DVDHelp.us, and I want to thank you for downloading my custom TMPGEnc templates. These free templates are the result of many (many!!!!!) hours of detailed research and testing, and with them, you should be able to get the VCD, SVCD, or DVD productions that you see from commercial products. We've all seen, or at least heard about, the VCDs that look absolutely beautiful, but we can't seem to figure out the magic numbers to make our own encodes look like that. Well, fear not, for now you can do it too. The VCD templates will produce a VCD with quality surpassing VHS, sometimes even SVHS. The SVCD templates will easily rival any DVD. As for the DVD templates, well... they're DVDs. Of course, they're going to look great! :) Click the "Tutorials" link on the left to see all of the great DVDHelp.us tutorials!
READ THIS! (It's important) Other settings that you'll have to manually check since they don't get saved in a template file. These will have no effect on the time it takes to encode your video. Also on the "Advanced" tab Video
source type: Non-interlace (progressive) [Change this if you
get obvious horizontal lines] On the "GOP structure" tab: Check "Detect Scene change" unless you notice that it's causing blotches in your video. On the "Quantize matrix" tab: (Optional) (Optional) Cleaning up a poor source: Before
I begin this section, let me clarify that the "extra" settings
in the table below are ONLY necessary when you want to clean up a video
with a poor source. If you're doing a DVD rip or are working from an
otherwise quality source, these filters are not necessary. You'll still
need the settings listed above, but you may safely ignore the two filters
listed in this table. I recommend that you also set the following in order to get the best quality. These can't be saved in the templates, so you'll have to set them yourselves...
Now keep in mind that the two additional settings above will DRASTICALLY increase encoding time, but your finished product will be awesome. If you want quality results, you pay the price in encoding time. PAL users only: Video tab: Encode mode set to "Non-interlace". Change only if necessary. (It should be unlocked, but if not, you can unlock this setting by clicking on the actual words "Encode mode" which will open a Lock/Unlock prompt.)
Have fun!
